I know Don from the hangout chat. Don is from Canada and plays a fine banjo clawhammer style. He plays other styles too but this style I love and always admired him. We are playing for each other on the chat and kept saying 'we gotta meet some day'. This weekend it happened. Don was in MI and I invited him to stay with me so we can play some music together.
We had lots of fun. I found out that Don is also an excellent guitar player. We jammed all Friday night, went to a picking party on Saturday and had another jam on Sunday.
What a great time wee had and what a wonderful way using todays technology, meeting people and making new friends.
Than you Don for your visit. I hope I can soon make a trip to Canada as well.
I encourage every fiddler here to peek into the chat room. There are great people and musicians waiting to be met.

sounds like great fun, hard to beat fiddle and a banjo.
By the way Hardy, if you need any wood for repairs feel free stop by if you're down in the Lansing area. I usually join up some tops and backs two or three times a year and have lots of cut offs. The wood is generally at least 10 years old or older so it's nice and stable.

One again, thank you for a wonderfull weekend Hardy. I really enjoyed jamming with everyone and also our time together. I hope that we can do it all again sometime soon.
