Here's wishing all of you a great holiday, Christmas or otherwise!
It is such a enjoyable relaxing time. I don't have to work again until next year! We are spending Christmas here at home with the kids.
Christmas eve- some fiddling, Polar Express a million times, italian style eve dinner (lots of seafood in fra diavolo sauce), a guiness or 2, putting on the Santa suit for the first time.
Christmas - some fiddling, Polar Express another million times, BBQ ribs, a guiness or 3, oysters, christmas pudding, setting up a train set, maybe pulling kids on the sled.
I've been working on Durang's Hornpipe. A bit beyond my skills right now but a great tune and fun to try.
I hope you all have a chance to kick back and enjoy.

Holidays wouldn't be holidays without a good bit of fiddling, would they? I just got home with new mute and all the makings for some good old-fashioned macaroni and cheese and I have plans to work on some old-time jam tunes these next few days--Pretty Little Dog, Seneca Square Dance, that kind of thing.
Merry Christmas to you! Let the celebration begin! Cynthia

Merry Christmas Stew! It's whiskey before breakfast for me (huh). Please have a Guiness for me. I need one right now after an all day wrap-a-thon.

I've been playing the heck outta the tune "Christmas Eve", which is a three part OT fiddle tune! Also been playing "Breakin' Up Christmas".
Have a guiness for me, and have a happy!
Oh, and I thought of something you should maybe be doing. And if you do, it won't be "Poor Banjo!" anymore. Record yourself some simple backup banjo tracks, to play along with on your fiddle, of the tunes you know. It's really important, early on, to get the feel for playing this thing along with others, and that will get you started, though getting out to jams would be even better.

That's a good idea BJ. I can probably work that thru the garage band on my mac. We had a great Christmas here and finished the Guiness too.
I worked on "I Saw Three Ships" yesterday. A good tune on the fiddle and probably my first jig like tune.
"Old Christmas" is another tune I'd like to do for next year.
