My little protege

Posted by Janie Rothfield on Wednesday, October 24, 2007

Just finished teaching my little "protege" Claire who is in 3rd grade, and who started with me 2 1/2 years ago-she has soaked up so much and really enjoys cross tuned tunes. So I played her Garry Harrisons Jailbreak and she asked to learn it and I have posted it in my Music section. So cool.  She plays entirely by ear, except for a type of tablature with the string and finger position which she refers to if she is stuck.  We enjoy playing double fiddle as well as banjo fiddle duets and she has promised me I can be in her band!

Claire is a smart kid -- she already knows how to pick quality musicians for her band!  One of the hats I wear as a Software Support Engineer is that of Training Instructor.  I told a class of customers today when one of the students nailed a task really well that my joy was analogous to that of a music teacher when a student prodigy excels.  I am rejoice vicariously through you, glad that another torch bearer  is becoming accomplished.  You have every right to be proud of your protégé.
