To give myself a break from intense bowing threads, I decided to:
A: Play more fiddle
B. Listen to more fiddling.
A drawback with both of these is that they REMIND me of how fascinated I am with bowing patterns!!!
And actually I also did some of
D. Play blues guitar through one of my 5 watt tube amps. Fortunately, I could do some of all the above, even though I had the flu. Even more fortunately is that after a nap this afternoon, I feel MUCH better- actually got out and raked leaves a little bit today.
The fiddle is sounding good, and the bowing is flowing just fine on most Old Time stuff- however, it occurred to me that I have ethnic gigs coming up- Swedish for Santa Lucia in December, and a good chance of Scottish for Robert Burns in January. So I tried some jigs today, and my jigs REALLY need help! It occurred to me that I need to do what I do for keys- practice ALL my jigs in a row so that the techniques they have in common will reinforce each other. I do have an Old Time jam coming up next Saturday- after that the practice for the ethnic stuff will begin in earnest... and oh yeah, I have a Christmas gig too!

A perspective regained is a regaining of that which is perceptively lost without any measure of perpendicularity--or bowing patterns. Thus, play more jigs! Love 'em.

It's good to play.............It's good to analise..............So you can play better.
Buy, do you analise to play better, or play to analise better? ;-)

One can only hope that your perspective included learning some restraint. Otherwise we're going to have to tack a nickname on you . . . like Bowing Krishna or Jebowa Witless.

BJ- you could use some restraint yourself....
proverbial pot callin' the kettle black...
if I hadda dollar for every caustic comment you've made....
