Last night was our regular jam. Wow, saw faces I hadn't seen since last spring AND we had a double bass player! Not only that, we had a clawhammer player, which has been rare lately.
I didn't have to be alpha fiddler (thank you Jesus!) since LA showed up (another person who hasn't been coming since spring) and he's been playing a lot of years, a very good fiddler. Though it's important for us to bring the beginners along, we've had a number of jams over the summer that fell into being slow jams since that was most of who showed up. When I'm the most experienced fiddler in the room, and nobody but me knows any tunes, it ends up being a slow jam. Last night's jam, though not fast, was a good clip.
We really got a good mojo going! And it ended entirely too soon, I could have kept playing like that for hours. I really really wish I could play like that every night.
Well, at least this Sunday I'll be playing with the Stroudsburg crew again up at the Bluegrass Jam at the E. Stroudsburg Elks Club.

And again as usual I didn't make it. :O( Oh well...may have been a bit too fast for me anyways. Glad to hear you all had a good time.!!

Glad to hear you had a great time.
Unfiortunately our Tuesday OT has broken up, though the clawhammer player said he wouldnt mind the two of us continuing. Maybe we can find others, again.
IN the meantime I still have my monthly BG jam.
I lived so close to E. Stroudsburg only 6 years ago. Dang.
I'll keep looking; there's bound to be something up here within driving distance.
Maybe someone at fiddle camp this summer will know of an OT jam.

Stephanie, try Craigslist. That's how I started my jam. Post an ad asking for OT players to jam with. I'd also put flyers out at the bluegrass jam you go to. You might be surprised, there might be some closet OT players who play there!
The E. Stroudsburg jam has been running a long time. The two guys who run it also play OT (they're the two that came to the P'Burg Jam) and some other OT players show up there so we can usually get an OT circle going in one of the side rooms. I don't mind playing a bit of BG, since there are some really nice folks go to that jam, all of whom are great players.

Okay, okay, I'll come on by for the jam. Let's see it's...3,327.234 miles...and I'll be on my bike, carrying my fiddle on handlebars....

Humbled, you are WELCOME to jam with us. Though I think if you snag onto a truck bumper you might be able to shave a bit off that cross country time . . .
