So, I restored another banjolele. Now, I know this is a fiddle hangout, not a banjolele hangout. However, I believe that a fine banjolele adorned with a painting of an even finer rooster might attract and inspire any fiddles within hearing range of it (and I expect this one to have a long range.) Plus I'm not close to finished with any of my fiddle projects and just felt like posting pictures of something done.
This was a 1930s U-King uke found on ebay in terrible, filthy shape. I scrubbed, polished, glued, filed, varnished, scraped, stretched, and painted to get it in the current state. It had copper paint flaking off the neck and partly coating the old corroded brass pot. I love the copper and brass patches! I kept some of the patchy paint on the neck too, smoothed it out, and french polished on top. I keep thinking I'll restore some of these to sell, but this one is another keeper. I'm just waiting for the strings to arrive and then I'll build the bridge. And then, of course, I'll play it with a fiddler!

I'm gonna be jammin' with a banjolele tonight! Hubby met a guy on the banjo hangout who needs some holes drilled in his peghead (the instrument's, that is), and he's bringing us some home-brewed beer in exchange. You gotta like a banjolele player! By the way, your instruments are awesome! Keep the photos coming!
