When I started doing this blog , My goal was to learn two tunes per week . Well I guess things can not be so black and white.
I did learn Westphaila Waltz , I think that was the most changing tune in a while , I have not played many waltz so far.
I did start playing fiddle with two local fiddle groups , These are groups of about 10 - 20 fiddlers that play a bunch of tunes in unison , and allow
each of the fiddlers to do a solo. I was fortunate enough to play " The Woodchoppers Reel " as a solo and did pretty good to my surprise.
The support from this group is overwhelming positive . While half of the players use sheet music , I have decided not to , it accrued to me that
while reading is great for getting an idea of how the melody goes , learning my ear tells you how the song is played.
So I am still going to learn new tunes , but the ones that I post on this blog will now be new tunes that I have learn as well as ones
that I will learn.
I don't know how it will evolved from here , but as of now I can't seem to nail down a particular goal , like " I will learn 2 tunes a week"
Well at any rate I still have two tunes in the woodshed:
Whiskey Before Breakfast
Black Velvet Waltz
Take Care
