A buddy asked me to play on the Pearl Button Riverboat with him Friday night for a 2 hour cruise on the Mississippi River. It's a beer/wine tasting event and we're the background music. I think we'll be on the middle deck instead of the top deck, so I don't even think we'll need a sound system. Just fiddle/banjo/bass and maybe some mandolin.

It should be alot of fun. Even though I've lived in this town on the Mississippi River for almost 10 years, I've never been out of the port here.

Sounds like a fun time! Don your 19th century frock coat and play Steamboat Around the Bend.

Well, it's all about WHO you know (or in this case, who my buddy knows...).

Classical and jazz sometimes get relegated to background music, unfortunately. But I don't see how that could happen to fiddle music. It's too spunky! Have a great gig!

That will definitely be fun! I've only been across the Mississippi a few times on some ferries. It would be fun to go for a long ride AND play music too. Not to mention beer & wine. :-)
