As many of you know we are now mostly year round in Yuma Arizona and quite enjoying this climate and town. We had spend several winters here previously and have yet to experience the 120's of hard summer, but even with a month of high 90's low 100's (well, up to 111 a couple times) it is quite lovely! One would think with a real "address" now that the miles would be reduced on the vehicles, but nope, travel is still happening and music is still on the road.
We finally got over to San Diego to visit and do workshops and a concert at Old Time Music on University Ave and as a result have been asked to teach both clawhammer banjo and old time fiddle there. Well, it is about 200 miles each way, so while we won't be able to go over all the time, the plan is to be over every two weeks once we get going but keep a flexible schedule due to gig commitments and such. SO, starting Saturday, June 27 I'll be teaching at Old Time Music and am really looking forward to it. There are 6 slots (they open at 10, close at 5) so allowing for lunch (well, for the moment anyway) that allows 6 lessons each week. If we fill it up quickly and demand is there, we'll look at adding Friday, but for now, Saturday only. We do have 10, 11 and 1 taken already, so let me know quickly if you want to be in the first round of students.
The only break in that bi-weekly schedule at the moment is the time we head east for Clawcamp East (only a few spots left!), Clifftop and Acoustic Music Camp in Dallas on the way back from Clifftop. That means we'll do June 27 then July 11, but should be back on August 15 to resume the bi-weekly schedule.
Thank you for this wonderful opportunity to meet and work with many of you at such a great shop as Old Time Music. They maintain a LARGE collection of acoustic instruments for sale there also, so if you are in the market (so to speak) I can help you with that also.
Till next time, Play Nice!
