We had more people this time than we did last time! WOWZA!
I think I can safely say that the first jam attendance wasn't a fluke. This jam is a winner. We had over 20 people playing, 15 of whom seemed to know what they were doing, and the others who managed to hang on and do okay in spite of not knowing as much. It was great fun!
Had a bunch of faces new to this jam, but not new to me. I've seen these people various places-- the Druckenmiller's Jam, Lake Genaro, Kutztown Fiddle Festival, the AFBA Bluegrass Jam, the Pocono Bluegrass Jam . . . and one gal, Nancy, who contacted me through Folkjam and drove all the way down from Honesdale. Wow.
Learned a few new tunes, a couple with really cool names from Sarah Armstrong originally-- Maggots in the Sheep Hide, Snouts and Ears of America, maybe one other.
We had a few really really good fiddlers, a couple good clawhammer players (though we could use a couple more!) a couple great mando players, a bunch of solid rhythm guitarists, a couple dulcimers, and the cloggers did stay for the first few tunes, and danced along, which was fun!
Monica, the center director, showed up, and I have a feeling she was surprised and pleased at the turnout. We also had a few of the Art Center members who came and listened, a couple of whom played along a bit.
I can't wait til the next one!
