Just uploaded an mp3 to my music files here of my octave strung fiddle that I got back after it being loaned out to a friend for a while, not sure if it was half a year or more. From the way the fiddle sounded I could tell it had not been really played a while. It's starting to wake up a bit again. It's actually my first fiddle, the one I got off of some intyweb shop for 106 euri. After I got a proper fiddle and read about those octave strings I thought it'd be cool to have them on that cheapo fiddle, so had the luthier I got my proper fiddle from set it up for that with a new bridge and some other little bits of work. After it got the octave strings it got named Basje (little bass, but also Bas is a fairly common name here).
Sent my cheapy 'lectric that I'm not playing at all these days/months/years back to the lad that was borrowing this octave one off me so he'll have a fiddle in case he wants to have another go, he said he sometimes plays for a wee while, so even that might keep him thinking of it and maybe at some point he'll not be able to put it down after those ten minutes or so, when he's got a bit more time on hise hands. Hoping he'll end up learning to scrape out some tunes so we can scrape together. :)
It's nice to have Basje back, hard work playing it, but fun as well, and a good workout :D

What's 106 euri in real money, y' know, American dollars? And what's an octave violin? I'm going to have to look that one up! In a "wee" bit. Thanks.

Hehe, over here it's the euri that's the "real" money. 106 of them would buy me about 120 100 gr. bars of chocolate.
Octave fiddle is a fiddle tuned an octave below our regular fiddles. :)

I love that name Basje. Also, your uploaded video was very nice.

Altijd en traktatie om je eerste instrument in goede "gezondheid" terug te krijgen.
