Well, looks like I will be changing my avatar, now that I have TWO cats. Mr. Briggs has been joined by Ms. Stratton, a little orange stripey hellion of about six months in age. Somebody dropped her off in the neighborhood. Within a minute of spotting me raking leaves in the backyard this morning she had pegged me for a sucker-- in other words, a likely meal ticket, a warm bed, and catnip treats.
She's already earned her name by jumping up on my lap (within sight of Mr. Briggsy) and making herself at home, turning into a warm little LOUD purr puddle on my lap.
It's been . . . interesting around here. I thought the house was kidproofed already and found out how wrong I was.
I also found out that legs look like treetrunks to a starving kitten wanting ASAP to get to the food that's being dished up.
And Briggsy has found out that sleep will be impossible for the next year or so, until she grows out of the kitten stage. The minute she sees his eyes closed, she figures he's fair game for a belly jump.
I've gotta admit it is WONDERFUL to hear the pounding of paws across the floor in wild abandon, a sound I haven't heard since my dog companion died a couple years ago. Even if this has complicated my life a fair bit.
There's another benefit. Stratton is keeping Briggsy much too busy to bother me while I practice fiddle . . .

I think my snowblower has a Briggs & Stratton engine - weird huh?

Is your Briggs & Stratton as loud as my Briggs & Stratton? ;-)

Excellent! Congratulations on the new addition! We just adopted two, and they are quite the handful. I've gotta get some photos posted.

Well, I just had a revved up Briggs & Stratton on my lap for a few minutes, and though it made typing a bit challenging, it was wonderful. No hissing, no backbiting, just a two cylinder purr puddle. But now it's playtime . . . Congrats on your two, Judy! I'm sure they're making your life just as much of a challenge as these two are making mine. Geez, what a couple cutups they are, they've had me laughing since yesterday.

Well you might as well get the fiddle out and give him a taste of what he will hearing every night, LOL

Oh, she's heard the fiddle already. I MUST be getting better, she didn't try to murder me . . . she's been picking on Briggsy instead. I can't believe she can knock him right over when he's twice her size.

Aw what a sweet kitty. Congratulations on your new little bundle of joy, bj!
Someone up above has been tap, tap, tapping on my shoulder since last night. Today is/was my little buddy's 10th birthday. I had to put him down just after Christmas last year, so I know what you mean about missing the "sound of pounding paws". He was a little Jack/Chihua mix and you'd think he weighed 200lbs to hear him run through the house! He used to run and hide when he saw me break out the fiddle. LOL
Enjoy spoiling your newest family member!!

Thanks, Hi! She's a handful all right. Every time I open a cupboard or a drawer or the fridge she jumps right in, she's so QUICK!
