I had the pleasure of M.C.'ing the Arizona State Fiddle Championships in Payson, AZ this past weekend. It was a great weekend of old time fiddle music, with a beautiful contest site and the weather was perfect!
Here are the results:
Arizona State Champion: Andrew Donald (two years in a row!)
2nd Place: Michael Rolland
3rd Place: David Kaemmer

(Yes, I realize the link says 2007 winners, but it IS the current, 2008 winners list.)

I'd be interested in know what tunes the three winners played - or at least those of the 1st place winner.

Sorry, Paul, there were so many contestants over a two day period, I don't recall. It was a FULL two days of old time fiddle. :^)

I do recall that a very popular number this year throughout the contest was, "Say Old Man (Can You Play The Fiddle)"

Was our own AZfiddler_1996 (Alice) there? I believe she studied with David Kaemmer, or at least jammed with him.

No, she didn't make it to Payson. I told her we hope to see here there next year!
