Hello friends and music supporters,
We sure appreciate you all! Erynn and Carl here with some good news. We need it these days don't we? 5 is my lucky number and it’s also been 5 years since Carl Jones and I released our 1st duet album, Sweet Memories Never Leave. Where does the time go? Well, the time is more than ripe for a new CD and we have so much great material we've been working up. Carl and I are working real hard, right now, on a new, full-length studio recording called Old Tin. The name comes from a new, beautiful and nostalgic song of Carl’s about the little things and routines which we sometimes overlook but often have real meaning in our lives.

We have hand-picked the very best of our original tunes and songs from the last few years plus included some of our favorite trad stringband songs from the 1930’s or earlier that need to be heard again and played with fresh perspective.
Much of the recording was done a couple weeks before I went in for shoulder surgery. It was a particularly creative time for us with a sense of purpose. No time to lose when a shoulder surgery means you can’t fiddle for three months! I’m glad to report all went well and the ol' bow arm is doing great and on the mend. When this album is released I should be back in fine playing form again - fingers crossed!

So right now it’s been pretty cool because guests have been coming in and recording at Studio 808a this very week! Celebrated banjo player Bob Carlin from Lexington, NC, sweet dulcimer player Sarah Morgan from Morehead, KY, and our fabulous engineer and bass player, Joe Dejarnette from Floyd, Virginia are adding their special sauce and musicianship to Old Tin as I write this now. It sounds so good we can’t wait to share what we’re hearing right now with you!

This coming week we are doing are finishing recording, tweaking the EQ, and starting to mix the album. When that is done we’ll master it next week. Photo-shoot and album art/notes are in the works this November and this whole artistic project that we love should be sent off to the printing presses by December. The CD will be released in January 2020. We have a Kickstarter Campaign if you'd like to support the project. There is just over 3 days left before it ends. If you support us on Kickstarter you'll get a signed earlybird copy or any of the other perks you choose.  You can bet as soon as the Cds land on our doorstep at Dittyville we'll have them out in the mail right away to you - we promise! Plus - you can get some really cool stuff for supporting this project including digital downloads, CDs, soap, quilted fiddle blankets to original tunes and songs written by us for you or a friend! Erynn & Carl's Old Tin CD Campaign on Kickstarter - ends this weekend!

Needless to say, in this age of fragmented music, and with us not able to perform for 3 months (our main means to support ourselves), this special duet album would not be possible without you! Your help in anyway will allow us to complete this recording, follow our inspiration, heed our creative muse’s, and let our passion for music flow! Hope you enjoy Old Tin! As we always strive to do - we put our whole hearts into this CD! If this campaign goes well we might even make an LP too. Thank You!

Sincerely, Erynn Marshall & Carl Jones
