Hello Bruce - As a beginner, I just wanted to say thanks for posting this in a lesson format. I found a .pdf of the score, but your tutoial helped me the most in learning the tune.

Thanks very much for posting this. I'm at a crossroads for how to finger the part around time 1:10. I'm thinking the pinky should finger the E note on the A string, as oppposed to playing the open E. That makes vibrato available, but going from the F# on the E string, to a E on the A string is difficult for me to maintain good intonation, since that A-string E note is kind of "out there." Sounds like you might be playing an open E there. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks for posting this tune in the format you did. I'm a few months into learning fiddle, and decided to try Ashokan Farewell on my own outside of my music lessons. I can mostly play along with the recording (need to practice up a bit more), and it's very much like being at a lesson. Thanks again!
