My comment applies to both Glory and That Girl----I think your technical skill, your intonation, and the sound of your fiddle are all very good. To improve your music I suggest you take a good look at your phrasing. I realize that phrasing is somewhat optional, but I feel that yours is indistinct in places where it should be better defined.
Do you read music or are you an ear only player ? I find it is easier to figure out phrasing from the dots than from a recording of someone playing at a thousand miles an hour. It does take an amount of study to learn how to use the dots. (ear is involved)
I think a little work in this direction will make you a top notch Fiddler.

I don't know, Howard, sounds fine to me. However, I do understand where you are coming from. When I was learning JW's tunes years ago, I had a hard time with phrasing, too - I still struggle with it. JW's son, Bob, helped me out a bit, but he couldn't tell me specifically where I was "missing" it. He would say encouragingly, "That's pretty close." after each iteration.

Thanks, Kirk. I would be happy with "pretty close" :)

Wondering if there is any more info about this tune. Very nice piece and I have been quite taken by it. Seems to be a Debuque family variant.

I think it is actually related Eck Robertsons brilliancy medley and John Salyers little Billy Wilson.
It's on old Texas fiddle vol I.

Yep, I have all of those. I do hear the relationship to them as well. Wonder why it is called "medley"?

I assumed its a confusion with the word "melody" as in Greek Medley. Add in the fact that Eck Had Brilliancy Medley and you've got a recipe for a confused title.

Never thought of that. Although listening to Brilliancy again I'm not sure I hear the connection.
