This is something I wrote for a play -(while back) but we played it live with a Fiddles, Bass Shawm, and drum. The friend I went to play with in the grocery store 11/22-(Food Drive) played with me then - we played this, and got one of the more musical employees to 'drum' on a oatmeal box - anyway - this is the original comp midi - man I wish I could record live! It's in the key of D (GRIN!) you get there from it - )

(in A) -my fiddle tune was inspired & dedicated to the celebrated, disappeared and silent Terry Koken - the original Tonasket s**tkicker -banjo tune, however I drote fiddle part . - no banjo players were harmed during this rendition - although once I taught myself basic banjotuning, I realized they might run me out of town for the guessed at backup! - But hey! It works!

Well, I wrote the words & tune to this when I was 14 and have played it with others. However, in recording it (live with self) I always played it kind of twin/double fiddle (harmony and riffs) I can't record on my comp yet, but did a midi arrg of it as it basically would sound, in a perfect world. LOL! I have no idea what style you would call it. I just downloaded a midi2mp3 converter - so it may say .mid, but it is supposed to be now an mp3. Here goes tricks!!(cross fingers)

I just love this - I heard it and it stuck in my head. don't remember where - I have no idea if this is the correct tempo, but when a friend was playing it - (over the phone!) this was the harmony I played under it - (I go in for weird open harmonies on some things) The real kicker is that I also play this as a waltz -maybe I'll get that up - drunken kittens indeed!

These are from a Robin Williamson Tune book - 70's I have always loved these 3 - (learned them eons ago from Robin Williamson) -and this is about the tempo I play them -still have no recorder, but miked/recorded a direct input into midi (fiddle) and stuck a basic bass line (harp) under it. This came about as a result of Rachel asking about Jigs. These are slip Jigs - 9/8, Key: Em and rousing to play - simpler to play than they may sound! (all first position)

This is the first tab/notation I posted in the learning section - simple melody - ornaments, speed, and slurs are up to you - (heard it again on BHO - knew about from a while ago - forgot about it) I learned it as Old Coat - Later comments (fiddlepogo/fiddlerfaddler) lead me to titlessearch, and it's the spitting image of Boating up Sandy)

This is by ear from a Robin Williamson tune book --70's I play this (as I learned it from Robin Williamson) in Dm There is a variation at the end - then the whole thing repeats. Sorry this is a midi to mp3, guys, ( i generally play it much faster) - but wanted to compare it to TwelveFret's Em version! Grand tune! jen

3 Coyotes - (aka Cavanaugh's Jig) I Also wrote the lyrics Key of D - fiddle (although I also play it on the banjo) This is a kid's song -(yea, lyrics coming on the blog soon)) and it was inspired by a gent friend who had been an AZ ranger, and lived to kayak in Alaska. It all makes sense, right? Go figure!... and again with the animals!- and coyotes at that! - another

I've played this forever it seems - don't know where I learned it, or what it's called - (key of G) not the greatest sound quality - I think the lyrics had something to do with "been all around this world"
