I recorded this on a $500 entry level fiddle as a demo of what the fiddle can do in the hands of a mediocre fiddler The tune covers all four strings, to give an idea of the overall sound. Sorry about the lawnmower across the street. Sundays are like that. I recorded it in my living room on a Zoom H4 about 10 feet from me. All the echo is from the fiddle and the room, none added, and the only EQ is Audacity's standard "acoustic" curve.

Another one from the 3 Dollar Band. This one's written by Adam, and I think it's a really good tune. I especially like the fiddle work, though. To me, it's a master class in how to work a fiddle in pop music. I love the backup, and the break is just outstanding, IMHO. Posted by permission. BTW, the fiddle was made by Wayne Traynor in Kansas city about 40 years ago, set up by yours truly.

This is Pat Ireland, a teacher at K C Strings. We were making sound samples, and I thought I'd show off his playing a little bit. He's been playing since the late 60's, did a lot of contests in Missouri in the 60's and 70's. Never plays anything the same way twice. This is recorded in a practice room, on a Zoom H4, no EQ or added effects.

The Three Dollar Band, with a set written by fiddler Keith Van Winkle. Sort of Irish influenced American, by way of Transylvania. I like the mix of fiddle, flute, and tenor banjo. Got some nice bow rocking toward the end. Posted by permission.

I couldn't believe nobody'd uploaded this yet. It's one of the landmarks in fiddling, IMHO.

I learned this version from a fiddler from Pennsylvania, but it fits right in to the Missouri tradition. I recorded it on a $500 entry level fiddle as a demo of what the fiddle can do in the hands of a mediocre fiddler. The tune covers all four strings, and the trills give an idea of its responsiveness. Sorry about the lawnmower across the street. Sundays are like that. I recorded it in my living room on a Zoom H4 about 10 feet from me. All the echo is from the fiddle and the room, none added, and the only EQ is Audacity's standard "acoustic" curve.
