Me attempting to play Brushy Fork at John's Creek, Art Stamper's version. I could try all day to do it better but this what I sound like after playing it all day! So here ya go! Me on all instruments, fiddle, banjo and guitar.

I recorded the guitar first and didn't do a count in, so the fiddle starts in an odd place. My Skipper fiddle with helicores recorded with an SM-57, Cubase LE software. No effects, slight eq to compensate for the mic.

This is the file Luke Mercier sent me to let me hear how the Friedrich August Glass fiddle sounds. Not me!

This one is my version after a few months of figuring it out and playing it a lot. I slowed down Bruce Greene's version, and I also listened to the Luke Mercier file posted on my music page. I can do better without a microphone in my face, honest! I miss a few beats and add a few extra shuffles that shouldn't be there but this is an honest example at my playing on June 17, 2009.

Ok, here's my attempt at getting two notes on an up-bow. The first A part I'm shuffling the last two notes of each phrase and the rest of the song I'm attempting to do a double up-bow at the end of most phrases. Advice is very welcome. Thanks.

A friend recorded this at our first Yosemite Jam on April 28, 2010. He's across, the room behind the bass player. A very basic version played slow. Key of A, Fiddle tuned AEAE. I learned this on banjo years ago and another friend who is learning banjo remembered the tune and learned it from memory, so we tried it out.

A different version than the one you usually hear. I first heard it from Rayna Gellert's "Ways of the Wold" CD. Wayne Martin taught it to Rayna, Wayne learned it from Clennie Davis of North Carolina. Mr. Davis, who is in his 90's, got it from his dad. Key of D, fiddle tuned ADAE. Me on banjo and fiddle. The fiddle is a Gliga Guaneri copy and the banjo is a Ramsey student model.

Kinda rough, my first attempt to record this song. I'm still learning it, as you can hear. I wanted to see if my banjo and fiddle parts matched up ok. Me on both a Wildwood Minstrel open-back banjo and a Gliga Gama Guaneri with a tourte mute. The mic is an SM-57 straight into my computer using Cubase LE software.

Learned this from Tom, Brad and Alice's recording. Tuba-phone, Martin, and Skipper fiddle tuned ADAD.
