Learned from the playing of J. P. Fraley (from his June Appal cassette of the same name). Years later, according to Steve Green, via Kerry Blech, I was informed that J.P.'s father, Richard, learned this tune from J.W. (Blind Bill)Day's father, Jilson Day. I've always really liked this tune. Myself on fiddle, Rick McCracken on banjo and Tony Mates on guitar.

From the playing of Pappy Taylor and Garry Harrison. I first learned this from Garry playing it on Dave Landreth's Chairs CD that he (Landreth) gave me a copy of in 2005. I've since heard the Pappy version (Garry's source) and I have kind of put my own spin on it. Myself on fiddle, Dave Landreth on banjo, and Roy Farwell on guitar. I-Phone recording from a session we played a few months ago.
