This tune comes from splitting off three parts of John Johnson's five-part version of Forked Deer. This is my old-time band, Dirt Road Molly. I learned this tune with Larry Warren from a Massachusetts fiddler named Phil at a 4 a.m. session at Dance Flurry in Saratoga, N.Y.

Three-part crooked version done by my band, Dirt Road Molly. I can't recall where I got this. A well-known banjo player (I shouldn't name him here) said of this version

I think I learned this from Rich Sobel of the Cranberry Lake Jug Band about a skillion years ago...I still like it for some reason. This is my old-time band, Dirt Road Molly.

I like the plucking in the final part. I learned this from New York fiddler Ron Pecan at a festival a while back. I believe it's a Midwest tune. Festival version; I'm playing it with a couple other folks.
