The fiddler is Gil Kiesecker and his CD is called Blue Mountain Memories. I'd like to find out how, at the very end of this phrase, he gets that bouncy "boi-oi-oing" sound. Vivian Williams of Voyager Recordings graciously gave me permission to post this clip.

Played by Oren "Bill" Bailey of Peralta, NM. He says, "A local fiddler (Glenn Morehouse} is the one that wrote the tune... It has mostly been played by a few local fiddlers." My own first teacher, Bill Daily, had a crude "reminder" notation for this among his papers when he died. Having never heard the tune, I could not figure it out. Then I discovered that Bill had loaned me the CD that he'd learned the tune from and I found out about Oren "Bill" Bailey. An exchange of letters made it possible for me to post this tune here. Thank you, Bill Bailey!

Janet Switzer, fiddler. Written by Florence Killen of Nova Scotia, this waltz is in Gordon Stobbe's lesson book volume 2. My teacher directed me to learn it with double stops or drones throughout. It's been a challenge, and you can tell I still struggle with it after two weeks of work.

Janet Switzer, fiddler. My first teacher taught me this tune by ear and said it is also called Waiting for the Federals. It may be called Seneca Square Dance, too. Let me know if it's the same tune or not. Sorry, it's still kind of rough, but it's better than it sounded a year ago!
