I was given a my first Bluegrass CD when I was 27. It was the year I first became a river guide. I have been absolutely hooked ever since. I didn't play an instrument, but wanted to learn something about music. I bought a banjo and learned some basic stuff. After a year, I had to decide if I would keep going. Luckily, I found some folks to jam with, and the ONE lick that I played right sounded so damn cool I was addicted. After that it was all I could do to play enough (sometimes 8 hours a day, if I had a day off). Now here I am 10 years later, and I've gotten pretty good at the banjo. Not too long ago I wandered into an antique store in Grand Junction, Colorado. There sitting on the floor was an old Lyon & Healy Stradivarius replica. $82 later, I set it up and it sounds great. I'm feeling the addiction returning like gangbusters.
