As a mandolin player, I know & play lots of fiddle tunes ... I recently thought I'd like to see if I could play these tunes on a fiddle too, so I borrowed an old fiddle & now use my mandolin case as a footrest while I fiddle at weekly old-time jams! ;^)
My Grandpa played the fiddle for barn dances in rural Saskatchewan during the early 1900's ... he would apparently bring young fiddlers home for dinner & teach them tunes so he'd have more folks to play music with ... tho we never met, the more I fiddle, I think we'd have lots in common - including our repertoire!
