2000 Hours

Sunday, May 22, 2011

I think I've hit 2000 hours recently,  and I'm noticing a big difference.  I'm comfortable,  now,  tuning from a fork,  and tuning standard pegs while bowing.  Also,  not feeling self conscious when taking it out amoung other musicians,  but the biggest thing I've noticed is the bowing.  I'm starting to get what I refer to as the  "floaty wrist" thing.  My wrist is getting loose,  I'm getting some finger movement going,  too.  It seems like the bowing is getting lighter,  surer and more subtle and controllable.  I've got a long way to go on this instrument,  but it sure is nice to feel like you're getting better,  or at least more comfortable.  I'm  looking forward to what the next thousand hours brings.

I have played semi-professionally since i was young, in bands doing covers and originals. I have played rock, soul, jazz, blues, bluegrass, americana, funk, reggae, country and celtic. I have done some teaching. I enjoy writing songs and recording them, layering the different instruments and vocals,
