Yay...js...good job! I love the B part, especially, the hop high, my ladies part! Seems its the part everybody gets creative with, it just lends itself to it! Thanks groundhogpenny! I took lessons for a bit as a kid for about a season when I was about 8 or 9 (can't quite recall). Lost absolutely everything I'd learned except knowing the piece of wood had to go between by shoulder and my jaw, lol. Didn't pick up a violin until the late 90's again for a few months then had to give it up to go back to school. So now that I've got some time on my hands again I decided to start lessons again (late October). So not too much learned yet, but hopefully will get there. :)

 Nice work, jsfiddler. I like the really staccato "hop high". But no repeats! That's not old time. Next time: AABB AABB AABB AABB, and then da capo. That way we can all get into it more and get our toes tapping!

Hey thanks, outof tunes...you're very kind... I've had people here on FHO comment on my slides in different videos and seriously I don't even notice them...I have to go back through the video and search 'em out...lol...it's lihe an unconscious maneuver or something. One of my "problems" (not sure it's really a problem) with trying to practice is that I tend to constantly "fiddle" with the fiddle...lol...I mean I just seem to naturally wanna mess around with the tune, nt even knowing what I'm doing...in that I don't even knw the scales of the keys were playing in, just love the freedom, r can't resist the freedom of messin' around all over that unfretted fingerboard...anyway, I guess my ol homemade approach has got both good and bad to it...mainly a lot of laziness I guess! That one there was pretty embarrassing...maybe I'll get the time to get another obe up before long. This as been really neat for me to just see what people are thinking by hearing how everybody handles a tune...and extra fun seeing how fast improvement seems to come when somebody sits diwn and pays close attention to a tune for a few weeks...like, maybe we're all proving here that playing the fidde might not be as hard as everybody thinks!

Well i took those two horrible videos off my YouTube...lol...should never look at them once they're up or I start hating them so bad I gotta get rid of 'em. Anyway...I think I'm seeing a fun new thing for me to do...play guitar while recording on the iPad ( only leave t flat so I get the ceiling instead of me...lol) and then play along with the fiddle...just for fun. I won't try to make anymore youtubes like that though, because I just don't have the equipment...well maybe I do...we've got old mics and amps and speakers and stuff stored away with other seldom s'ed junk piled high on top f it all...leftovers from by- gone days when I had places to play my guitar...little street festivals and such. Maybe if we ever get done with overhauling the floors and floor joists, walks, etc. in here I can dig that stuff out and see if ters some way to be able to make the sound better for puttin up that kinda stuff on youtubes...lol...that would be a while from now, just the opportunity to look and see what- all I've got packed away that's been pretty much packed away in the whole 20 plus years we've lived here! Anyway, it was a fun thing to play around with yesterday, though yielded some pretty embarrassing youtubes. I still do plan to get my final version up with old time jam's guitar backup one f these days...next week we switch to a new tune...so...times running' away from us on Uncle Joe!!!!

Here are my last two Uncle Joe videos... not perfect, but I won't have any more time to work on this before the 15th... here's one where I tried to do that horribel thing I did yesterday... but todAy I got the idea to tune to D for singing purposes... G is terrrible for me to sing out of, not that I'm a singer anyhow... LOL... but then I thught I'd play it in D on my banjo, make a youtube, record over that youtube with my ipad recorder and play with fiddle and sing along with myself... whew... well I had to get the old cheapo fiddle out because I didn't realize until I put up that youtube of the banjo that my banjo was slightly flat ... so the old fiddle has fine tuners so I thought itd be easier to slightly flatten with those... the only problem is the banjo was loud and that cheap fiddle isn't very loud.. I'm used to my good one, which is very loud... so I got it all wrong, again, of course, as I always do... still here it is in D with a very loud banjo and a very soft fiddle:  youtu.be/sl35QY31V6k

Peggy, just go to the app store and search for "Multitrack recorder."  There's several apps, some free.  I use Harmonicdog's MultiTrack DAW ($9.99) which has a lot of bang for the buck (and is really more than I need).  YMMV, but even the free ones should do what you need - record four (or more) tracks using the built in mic or an external mic using an adapter, mix, click track, and export to your computer. 

Nice work everybody who has submitted, the rest of you procrastinators have one more week!

Ike things on the slower side, my own taste, but I have been trying to be able to comfortably handle the fast speed backup tracks on old time jam site for several months now...just feeling like it can only help me to accept that challenge! Wen I first started playing to their backup tracks, the slow tracks went to fast for me...nw I CAN sometimes hang on with their fast tracks...so it's been a good learning experience for me. I highly recommend pushing oneself with stuff like this...even if I always keep a reference for slower speeds, i feel like hanging in their with these faster players can only help me!

I've been using it myself at slow speed on the songs I know and have yet to graduate to the faster speed. But I'll get there eventually. The old time jam has helped me alot and I feel like I could play my fiddle in a session with a few people now. As long as they don't go too fast. haha

Ok,  After messing with it different ways, here is my final version.  I decided on the Key of A.  It's a bit rough, but at a little over 2 years of playing, it kinda shows where I fall skill-wise.  

It's a neat tune.  I'm looking forward to the next choice.  I learned a lot by working at this tune and this festival thing was a big motivator.

Thanks folks.  I'll go back to focusing on some other "tune projects" I have until the next tune is announced.  Still tryin' to get Sally Goodin' to sound right, Devil's Dream to bow-rock right, and St. Anne's Reel to not fall apart.   Even with all these tunes, a major goal for me is to have a loose wrist.
