You're sure doing a lot better than I did at three months! I was still one huge squeaky squawky horror back then. Good job!

You sound pretty good for someone who has only played 3 months. If you are Canadian, there seems to be an abundance of excellent fiddlers up your way. There also seems to be a lot of fiddler associations. Joining a fiddler association can help your progress as a fiddler.

Steven, I think your Connaughtman's Rambles rendition is a lot better than most people could reasonably expect after 3 months. I'm particularly impressed by your intonation. Most of the notes are dead on. I don't think you missed the high B on the E string even once, and that note is the bane of most fiddle players who play this tune, regardless of how long they've been at it. You have the makings of a really good player.

Wow, you sound great and a lot better than I do and I've been at it for 5 months.

God put a fiddle in my hands
and told me to play.

Very impressive feller!

Thanks folks. I find I like playing the fiddle more than any other instrument that I have learned in the past. I kinda regret not having taken it up earlier, but oh well.

I'm taking it slow so I can get it right the first time. Thanks for the encouraging comments- it means a lot as the night before last I wanted to smash my fiddle into kindling I was that frustrated.

Good work. As everyone says, you sound great for 3 months, and your intonation in the recordings is really really good. As you know from your other instruments, frustration is part of the process.

LOL I have been known to "threaten' my fiddle by telling it to act right or it'll end up in the kindling for firewood!

God put a fiddle in my hands
and told me to play.

Lovely stuff! I'm glad you didn't listen to those naysayers who told you not to bother learning to play the fiddle. Please keep posting tunes as you progress :)
