My Instruments: One fiddle is handmade by Gerald Stockdale of Springfield MO in 1960. A hard used but wonderfully sounding D. Salzard that's about 130 years old, with a one piece back to die for, and also handmade. And an early 20th c. German Strad which is plain-plain-plain until you put the bow to her, when she turns into Cinderella at the Ball, with Dark Rich Tone. And I've got a 4th fiddle that's a german trade fiddle, a project I haven't gotten to. I also own a Jackson Guldan and a 3/4 German fiddle, both of which need work, and will probably be fixed and sold eventually.

I've been playing ONE tune for three straight days now. Yes, I said three straight days. I haven't wanted to play anything else.
I'd picked it up from Rick at one of our jams, and hadn't played it since that night, but I jotted down the name on the tunelist-- Lowery's Quadrille. That was a few weeks ago.
Found a recording of it somewhere, don't remember where.
Got the whole thing in one take first time through EXCEPT that little pizzicato thingie in the C part. Took me most of a day to get that working right!
I wonder if I'll break outta this groove during practice tonight . . . . such a great tune, I LOVE playing this tune, I can just play it over and over and over again . . . Guess not.
