My Instruments: My main fiddle is a hard used but wonderfully sounding D. Salzard that's about 130 years old, with a one piece back to die for, and appears handmade. My second fiddle is handmade by Gerald Stockdale of Springfield MO in 1960.And I have an early 20th c. German Strad which is plain-plain-plain until you put the bow to her, when she turns into Cinderella at the Ball, with Dark Rich Tone. And I've got a 4th fiddle that's a german trade fiddle, a project I haven't gotten to. I also own a Jackson Guldan and a 3/4 German fiddle, both of which need work, and will probably be fixed and sold eventually.

Earlier today while I was playing, I was trying to get my ear worms to give up the tune I had been playing all day yesterday, called Sweet Bundy. Nothing. I tried weaseling around on some notes I knew were in the tune, and since I know it has runs up and down around the D note tonic, I tried noodling around in there. Nothing. So I played everything else I knew in D. Nothing.
Came home, cooked myself a wonderful dinner, my specialty of shrimp, peppers, onions and pineapple in a lime and ginger sauce over basmati rice. As I'm cooking I'm humming a tune, not thinking much of it. Ate dinner. Came in to check email, still humming that tune. All of a sudden it hit me. I had been humming Sweet Bundy for the last 45 minutes!
Tune memory is SUCH a funny thing . . .
