This song was learned from Louis Franklin, the family of fiddlers that included his brother, Major franklin. Others including John Hartford and Pete Seeger have recorded it over the years. Some historians credit to to the mid 1850's as "Turkey in the Straw." This version however, doesn't sound similar to that..

At'z uh good'n Junior.....much akin to "Lonnie Robertson's" style of fiddlin, I'd bet ya know of him. Have ya ever ventured down to tha annual "Hootin & Hollerin" festival in Gainesville ?......good food, fun, & fiddlin.

Good fiddling Junior. I enjoyed this one very much but if my memory serves me well which it seldom does. I think Major Franklin was Louis Franklin's Uncle. Hilly<
