I am just starting to learn the fiddle and I thought it would be good to record some of my early tunes as I learn them. This was the first tune I attempted to play after one month on the fiddle.

You're doing a lot better than I was at one month in!

Wow -- you're MILES ahead of where I was at a couple of months...in fact, you are playing some stuff there I still can't play! Well done!
My only suggestion would be to slow down and really get the rhythm groove going. You're doing everything else really great. The rhythm just needs to be smoothed out. If you slow it down -- play it intentionally way to slow but with a solid rhythm... play it slow and steady and gradually speed it up until you can play it with a nice steady rhythm at full speed, you'll have an awesome piece of music there.
Hope you don't mind the comment... and trust me, I still struggle with this. I don't have a local teacher either. I've had a few video lessons with HardyKefes (a member here) and I've visited his home 3 times. He's always telling me this same thing... slow down -- feel the rhythm. Play with a metronome at a very slow speed -- so you really get the steady beat in your head. Play each note with the full timing it deserves... and then when you bring it up to speed, it will be wonderful!!!

Hey Gary, that was pretty darn good for a short time on the fiddle. I thought your rhythm was fairly good. Sounds like you are playing out at the tip of your bow right now. A lot of beginners do that. It's more powerful to play more in the middle of the bow. You are hitting two strings pretty well and that's hard to do when you first get started. Since you play another instrument, you'll go faster and you obviously have a good ear. I really liked your version.
