As I recall, I learned this one from Mark Gunther. I'm not sure where he might have gotten it. It is in G and not like Billy in the Low Ground. Recorded 7/20/07. Chirps

Hey Chirps, I was the first one to get to hear this tune! Really enjoyed it! Another damned tune I have to learn??

Chirps,

This a Henry Reed tune that Alan Jabbour recorded on his most recent Southern Summit's CD with Ken Perlman.    I think other West Virginia fiddlers also play it..

Yup, this is Henry Reed's Billy In The Low Land. I first heard this on a Hover Uprights field recording. Worked it out as soon as I had access to a fiddle. Great tune!!

Well, Larry will be happy to hear that I finally sat down and learned this thing tonight. Took me a while to warm up to it, but I am totally in love with it now. Great job as usual, Chirps.

Just wanted to thank you again for these tunes.  Our music season stops out here from June until Oct. Then all the winter visitors come back  and music starts all over again.  I had been looking for some new tunes to play this year and your tunes are going to help me get it done.

Wow, I'd never heard that one. What a great tune. And so well done. Thanks.
