I think the "Fuzzy Mountain String Band" played this in both octaves - pretty easy to do in AEAE and breaks up the tune nicely.
You play it better than they did though... ;-)

Ahem - that comment just above about the Fuzzy Mountain Band playing it in both octaves was meant for "Pretty Little Dog" - not "Pretty Little Gal".
