GDgd / learned to play this from a recording by the Canote Brothers. There is a lot of lyrics that can be found, so I picked the verses I liked and used the chorus from a YouTube video of an interview that Bob Holt did with Charlie Acuff. Charlie plays and sings the tune. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IyomC16KTo) Charlie says he learned it from his grandfather and figures it went back to a time during or right after the civil war.
