In GDgd. It's probably a bit premature for me to post a tune. But what the heck, it's a way to document my progress. I'm hoping my tone improves when my new fiddle arrives.

Old Jaw Bone is the name of the tune. Your doing great! Keep up the good work. Has words and one of my favorite verses is
"My wife died in Tennessee brought her jawbone back with me. Hung that jawbone on the fence ain't heard nothin from the jawbone sense"

I think you're prabably right Strokestyle. Although this is how I found it: slippery-hill.com/M-K/AEAE/OldJoeBone.mp3
Too bad, because one of the main reasons I tried the tune is because of the name. I have a brother named Joe and I thought the name had some good comic effect. Oh well...
Thanks for listening!

Sorry it took a bit for me to get back to you. I have uploaded a MP3 of Billy Mathews playing and signing this tune. It is a rare recording as getting Billy to sing and letting me record is not easy, but he said I could share this with the FHO. There are more verses than he signs on this clip. You know if you want to call it Old Joe Bone that is just fine. I hope this is the tune you were rendering. I'll try to put this link here but if it doesn't work go to my music and find it there. Let me know what you think! Put up some more music when you can and enjoy! fiddlehangout.com/myhangout/me...archived=

By the By you could make up your own comical verses about your brother and keep calling this Old Joe Bone:)

Thanks so much for your effort Strokestyle, it's very much appreciated.
I've downloaded that and I'll go over it many times.
You have a superb country style and I can listen to your singing and playing and imagine you sitting in a rocker on your porch as the sun goes down, sipping 'shine' and singing away to your fiddle.
You certainly have a place in folk fiddle history, style and character.
Thank you very much for sharing it. - John T

Oh would I love to take credit for the music on this recording, but I can only take credit for recording it. Billy Mathews is the artist and my mentor. Please visit his site and better yet purchase some of his fabulous music. Here is his website banjobilly.net/ I am actually on two of his cd Calliope and Rags, Relics and Rarities. Being on these recordings is a great honor for me, as he asked me and my husband to participate on two of his recordings. Listen to some clips of Rags, Relics and Rarities and hear Billy's latest accomplishments. Billy is the genuine article for me and many other folk lovers. I hope to catch more of your progress on fiddle even though I can not spend a great deal of time on the hangout and miss so many great recordings by the members. If you remember to message me I will try to hear what you put up next.
Thank you for sharing, this is a wonderful song and I am so glad to have heard you play it!
