Inspired by the mention of Cross-F earlier today, I had some fun experimenting with Black Eyed Susan this afternoon. Not quite there yet, but still fun to play. : )

Sounds pretty good, I like the Cross-F! This is a tune I've been slowly working on but it keeps getting pushed aside. Yes, a fun tune to play, I'll have to try it in this tuning.

Yes! I love it for some tunes. And most of the tunes I really like fit it well. : )

Thanks! Discovered this morning that it really fits Ways of the World, too. I've got to revisit that tune. Reluctantly moved the fiddle back up to G this morning. Seems like it's less forgiving there and at the moment, that's a good thing!

You've come a long way from sitting by yourself in a corner at Battle Ground..!! I'm using this tune to teach ME......

Wow. It's been two years since I posted this. I don't dare listen. [laugh]
I've come a long way (with a lot farther to go) because I had the good fortune of finding myself one HECK of a good teacher!
There are many days when I still feel like I should be sitting off by myself in a corner (fiddling is a real mind game, isn't it?) but then I come home from a jam like the one I went to last night and I realize how energizing and wonderful it is to get out and play. Hope to make it to Gilman with some good tunes ready to share!

alisai, That sounds great! I have a freiend on facebook named Jim Jacquet who collects real old vintage banjos....He can't tune many of them to standard pitch ao I've had to tune down to the deep depths to play tunes with him. We'll meet up in Centralia in a few weeks. I'm bringing a fiddle I have that can tune down that low and still manage to make it feel okay playing it.
Good job on that tune, Chris Chapin (friends with Lee on facebook.)
