Alan was the old time fiddler for the 2006 Midwest Banjo Camp. At that time I had been playing for only a year and had a tough time remembering the phrases being taught to us, but Alan was a good sport. He remembered that I had sent him some fiddle-related articles that I had written for the monthly newsletter of the Northern Illinois Bluegrass Association. Ken vaguely remembered that I was the guy that missed half of the 2008 Midwest Banjo Camp because of a flat tire.
