Discovered an open seam on the top of my daughter's fiddle. Who knows who long its been there...

That's an easy fix man....you have 2 choices.. depending on the quality of the instrument and avilable funds:
1.) Glue it and clamp it yourself
2.) Take it to a luthier, have it re-glued.
3.) Chuck it ...

I'm tempted to do it myself--looks pretty straight forward but...it's technically my sister in law's--tho' it's on (sorta) permanent loan to my daughter. We'll probably take it to the luthier. Not right away tho' as we JUST paid for the OTHER fiddle to get set up. Sigh...

I don't think it will cost too much to fix that. Sometimes though, the repairs can be worth more than the Fiddle, dpending on the fiddle and the value it carries..

Yeah, it's just her old student violin. She has a much nicer one now. I might see if she's cool with me giving it a go myself but ideally I'd like a luthier to do it as it need a fair amount of touch up to it's varnish as well--it's pretty battle scarred! How we're gonna pay for that is a whole 'nother deal...

Do you want your own Fiddle? And a good one that's affordable? let me know...I know a place that has handmade Fiddles from Romania starting at about $200 and with 15%..

Well I'm playing that Jackson Gulden fiddle, but if we were to buy a new fiddle for my my daughter we'd definitely be looking at those Gilgas.

hahahhha always....no, you know me...I find stuff I like I like to shout it from the rooftops...but I did see that Gliga was offering 15% off any purchase......wish I had the offer when I bought mine...
