Justine won first place in the Instrumental Division of the the Topeka Young Musicians Awards a couple of weeks ago. She had to audition to get in and then played as one of 7 finalists along with classical violinists, cellists, and a couple of flute players. She learned Rag Time Annie and then created her own version of the tune by listening to other players. She is 12 and I was so proud that a kid playing a fiddle tune actually was able to compete and win this competition.
