That's a real honey of an instrument. You have a real nice website that does a great job explaining the differences between the instruments of your making and the ones commonly available. I am gratified that you make nylon-string guitars as well, since I love their timbre compared to most steel-string instruments. (I'm down to just one guitar, and it's a classical guitar with a cutaway and all the preamp and EQ stripped out ... hmm ... I need more guitars ... I need more money for guitars ... I'm rambling again ...)
Your website says that the ribs are deeper, and doesn't say explicitly but implies that it is wider, I presume at the waist. So, inquiring minds want to know: given that the Guarneri waist is about 5 mm wider than the Stradavari waist, how does your 5-stringer compare to a typical Guarneri? Also, are the upper and lower boughts widened as well, or just the waist? Did you do anything special or different to the neck other than widening it to accommodate the fifth string? Could you post a sound sample of the Bubinga 5-string?

FF, the whole violin out line was enlarged about 5% to provide more internal airspace as well as increasing the rib height about 2mm.
The neck is 25 mm at the nut with the string 5mm apart.
The Bubinga fiddle is in the studio now being used to make a new CD. When they finish I hope to get a couple of MP3 files to post on line. This fiddle belongs to Tania Elizabeth who is the fiddle player for "The Duhks" Google the Duhks and you can learn about them.
I am also in the process of making a Bubinga 5-string for Darol Anger. He palyed the one I made for Tania and wanted one too.
