One of my first attempts at multi-track recording. Playing in unison is difficult when you're listening to the other part through an earphone and don't have the body language of another partner to go by!

An example of the Italian baroque gigue, which derives from the British jig. The first and second notes of each triplet are slurred, resulting in an accentuation of the third note of each triplet set, giving it a lively dance feel. The structure, in keeping with true jig form, is AABB.

An ancient Scottish air said to have been written by one Jamie MacPherson, a freebooter sentenced to be hanged. Before his sentence is carried out, he plays this tune and challenges anyone present to play it. When no one steps up, Jamie smashes his fiddle against a rock and declares, "No one shall play Jamie MacPherson's fiddle."

This set of jig and reel is very popular at Irish sessions here in the Chicago area.

Standard tuning, fully arched bridge. The last section is a repeat of the first but with the drone on the E string rather than the A on the D string.

The bowing I use in the A part the second time through is something I made up a long time ago when I was trying to translate Jesse McReynolds-style cross-picking to the fiddle.
