Afton Water is one of Burns's most popular songs. It first appeared around 1792. As well as praising the river Afton it is also said to be a compliment to a Mrs Stewart of Stair, who received a copy from Burns in 1791.

"Faded Love" is a blues fiddle Western swing song written by Bob Wills, his father John Wills, and his brother, Billy Jack Wills. The melody came from an old fiddle tune Bob learned from his father, John Wills. Source: Wikipedia

My first recording. Originally the verse was played twice followed by two renditions of the chorus. However, the first verse had unwanted noise (from the bow) so I deleted that section and just kept the one verse and both choruses. I know there is much room for improvement and hopefully this recording will help me identify the areas that need to be improved :)

Song recorded by Brenda Lee, Elvis Presley. Tune recorded by Chubby Wise. It was this version that inspired me to learn it.

The Crested Hens (Les Poules Huppées), often mistakenly thought of as being Irish in origin, was composed in 1983 by the French Hurdy Gurdy player Gilles Chabenat. The original version was written as a 3/8 time bourrée which I am informed is an old French dance which is danced in quick double time.
