These are two tunes that I learned from fiddlers in Santa Barbara way back when terrible lizards ruled the earth. They've probably morphed beyond all ressemblance to the original versions. I multitrack recorded myself playing two fiddles that I had just finished making less that a week before this recording. Not bad for babies. The tunes were called Canadian by the fiddlers that I learned them from.

I learned this from listening to an old 78 recording of the Leake County Revelers.

A reel that probably descended and morphed from Scottish feddle music.

Ookpik is an eskimo word for he Snowy Owl. It was composed in 1965 by British Columbia fiddler Frankie Rodgers. I've loved playing it as a last waltz at many a dance.
