I first heard this tune Acadie a Louisiane by Bruce Dáigrepont.It is the story of the Acadian people's expulsion from their land by the British, back in the 18th century.And their subsequent settlement in Louisiana.

This song was composed by Dewey Balfa for his young daughter Christine.,who now performs the Balfa Toujours band,with Dick Powell. Dewey was killed in a car smash just after that song was written.If anyone can add to that,I'd be happy to hear from them.
