I’ve been playing the fiddle since 2010 and it has become one of the most meaningful and consistent parts of my life outside of work. What started as curiosity about traditional folk and old-time music slowly turned into a long-term passion for learning tunes, improving technique, and connecting with other musicians through local jams and online communities. I’m especially drawn to music that feels expressive and honest — tunes with strong rhythm, memorable melodies, and a sense of storytelling behind them. Over the years I’ve explored different styles including old-time, Celtic, bluegrass, and traditional folk music. I still consider myself someone who is always learning, which is one of the reasons I enjoy communities like Fiddle Hangout. There’s always another tune to discover, another bowing pattern to work on, or another interpretation that changes how you hear a familiar piece. I appreciate musicians who can balance technical skill with warmth and personality in their playing. Outside of music, I work as a consultant with Leave The Pack Behind, where I focus on health education, prevention strategies, and community outreach projects. Much of my work involves helping young adults access practical wellness resources and encouraging healthier lifestyle choices through supportive, non-judgmental communication. Although my professional work and music may seem unrelated at first, both are centered around connection, listening, patience, and building positive environments. Fiddle playing has also become an important way for me to relax and recharge after busy workdays. Some evenings I’ll spend time practicing scales and technique exercises, while other days I just enjoy sitting down and playing through old tunes by ear. I especially enjoy waltzes, dance tunes, and fiddle styles that carry a strong groove without sounding rushed. I joined this community because I genuinely enjoy hearing how other players approach music, instruments, setup questions, and technique challenges. Even after years of playing, I still learn something new almost every week from listening to other fiddlers and reading discussions here.
