Hi everyone! I’m glad to join this community and share a little about myself. My name is Margie, and while my professional life is rooted in the world of genomics, my personal world has always been shaped by music—especially the guitar. I work at Claritas Genomics, where I focus on helping advance genetic diagnostics and supporting teams that use next-generation sequencing to bring clarity to complex medical questions. It’s a field that demands precision, curiosity, and patience—qualities that, interestingly, I also rely on every time I pick up my guitar. Music has been my way of balancing the intensity of scientific work. After long hours analyzing data or assisting with research tasks, I often find myself unwinding through melodies, chord progressions, and improvisation. Playing guitar reminds me to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with something deeply human. I love exploring different styles—from soft acoustic pieces and fingerstyle arrangements to more expressive, folk-influenced patterns that pair beautifully with fiddle tunes. Even though I’m not a fiddler myself, I’ve always loved how guitars and fiddles speak to each other musically, creating that warm, intertwined sound that feels timeless. I joined Fiddle Hangout to learn more from other musicians, discover new styles, and connect with people who appreciate the craft of stringed instruments as much as I do.
