Pete hails from New Mexico, USA and has enjoyed a long and critically acclaimed career in live performance and recording, both in the US and abroad. Pete started his musical career playing fiddle, guitar and singing in a trio called the "Allen Brothers" with his brother Phil Allen on banjo and Earl Pitman on bass in 1973/74. The Allen Brothers played Americana styles including Bluegrass, Old-Time and Cajun music. Pete was also a founding member of the legendary bluegrass band called "The Squids" whose other founding member Bobby Earl Davis has now formed "The Earl Brothers" a highly acclaimed bluegrass band on the current live venue circuit and have several albums released. Pete later had a opportunity to join Queen Ida and the Bon Temps Zydeco Band and played with Ida for many years before forming his own band "LeRue". Pete has played at numerous venues throughout the United States, Canada and Europe including The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, The US Festival, The Monterey Jazz Festival, The Glastonbury Festival in England and many, many others. Now Pete has 4 children who have all taken their music very seriously and together have formed the third generation of Allen Family Bands (the first being "Allen's Syncopated Aces" out of St. Louis playing jazz in the 1930's). Pete has recorded with Queen Ida, Bela Fleck, David Byrne and many others and looks forward to making the Allen Family Band's debut CD soon. The Allen Family Band love to play and sing and we hope you enjoy what we do.
