So last September, Calvin Vollrath announced a "special guest" coming for his annual Spring Fling in Morinville, Alberta, Canada. So i bought six tickets to find i would hear Natalie McMaster playing alongside my other fiddle favorites. Wow what a show, it was so amazing to hear the different styles. Natalie is very much a celtic player and well Calvin IS old time fiddling.
A great evening of music and some laughs as Calvin is an excellent host. I also got to see a bunch of folks from Camp Calvin last year many of whom are booked in this year also. Hooray, good people, good food and good music.
There's some video's on you tube (I'm in Randy's class) I was told that if you make a mistake in music keep playing. Some facial expressions i make tend to show, i knew exactly who was screwing up lol.
Now i eagerly await camp again this year in July (week 2 still has spots) because sitting in a room with over 20 fiddles, a couple of mandolins, 6 guitars, 2 pianos and one lovely stand up bass was a very amazing musical experience. Better do it again.
bye for now

Was given my uncle's fiddle as a family heirloom, so i decided to play. Bought a shiny new blue 3/4 and some books to learn. Love the music although i don't know much about it, can't wait to start fiddling and stompin with friends and family. It'll be great to have music around the campfire again.
