Pertaining to my history with old time music it all started at a going away party in 1996. The party was for the former owners of a company that I just started working for. I remember that huddled in a corner was a group of people creating a cacophony of sound unlike anything I'd ever heard. Over the years I never forgot that event and subsequently attended many more parties like that one. Fast forward to September of 2003. A good friend of mine bought a bass and wanted to learn to play some old time music. With my previous knowledge of guitar and fairly good ear I agreed to help him. I borrowed a fiddle from another friend and that was that! What can I say? The Devil's Box has got a firm grip on me. Oh, by the way another friend of mine took my picture and named it "johnny magic fingers" so that is where that name came from. It is no representation of my abilities.
