I am learning the fiddle as a direct result of knowing my great grandfather had crafted them when he was alive. I have come to dead ends on finding one of his fiddles, but I can keep the spirit of his legacy by playing the instrument. If anyone cares, his name was Hughes Marcum and he lived around the Fort Smith area in Arkansas. Someone from around there I was told has the patterns and the jigs that he used to make his fiddles, but that's about all I have..... oh, except that he was in the Hope, Ark,area briefly.
