Age: 74. Born & raised is SE KS; Ph.D. Organic Chemistry, taught college for 40 years, now retired. Started playing guitar in early '50s, learned Chet Atkins thumb picking style, switched to bluegrass in 1970, played electric bass in country band and also guitar for fiddle backup. Played bass in BG group, switched to mandolin in 1979, and have been working on fiddle as well for last 10 years. Have written short music theory manual for amateurs. Doing workshop for IL Old Time Fiddlers Assoc on music theory.
